Key to Health Care Reform Way More Primary Care Doctors

BOSTON – Among the many hurdles facing President Barack Obama's plan to revamp the nation's health care system is a shortage of primary care physicians — those legions of overworked doctors who provide the front line of medical care for both the sick and those hoping to stay healthy. As Massachusetts' experience shows, extending health care to 50 million uninsured Americans will only further stress the system and could force many of those newly insured back into costly emergency rooms for routSurgeon salary: Research surgeon starting salary and surgeon salaries by location, experience & more. Newsweek Makes The Case For Killing Grandma

Newsweek, in all of its wisdom, is still arguing that Sarah Palin lied about the death panel provisions in ObamaCare, but we really should have a death panel anyways. The author of the below piece , Evan Thomas, writes that his 79 year old mother wanted to die but the doctors wouldn’t let her because the assisted living facility she was staying at was sustained by Medicare. He didn’t like this and muses on how we can fix health care in this country by, you guessed it, getting people into hospiRevamped health care system could swamp primary care physicians Associated Press | Sep 13, 2009 BOSTON – Among the many hurdles facing President Barack Obama’s plan to revamp the nation’s health care system is a shortage of primary care physicians — those legions of overworked doctors who provide the front line of medical care for both the sick and those hoping to stay healthy. Choosing a career based on salary can be tricky

Charlie Chaplin is a cog in the machine in the 1936 movie Modern Times. One of the fun experiences I have is researching odd facts on the Internet. I recently looked at some statistics on the “top 10 jobs in America.” Here are a few bits of information I learned: Lists vary on the top two jobs. Some say Surgeon and others say Anesthesiologist. Salaries for each range from roughly $175,000 to $185,000 on average. (Note: This means that some of these people make much more and some make much lPresident Obama has promised to reveal some details of ObamaCare II today. It will be different in some respects from ObamaCare I, which more Americans now oppose than support. Which is cool, and I enjoyed this cartoon. In the meantime, I have a few modest suggestions. None were a part of ObamaCare I, and I am willing to bet that none will be included

India healthcare without health insurance

Aruna Viswanatha describes India's health care system: Almost 25,000 doctors graduate from India's medical schools every year. Because there is so much competition, doctors and hospitals are forced to keep their prices low to get patients. Residents, who go to medical school straight from high school, only make the equivalent of a few hundred dollars a month. An average surgeon's salary would be around $8,000 per month. The take-home pay to fix a hip fracture, for example, might run between $

A Different Sort of Health Care System

Writing in Salon , Aruna Viswanatha describes India's health care system as "an anarchic hodgepodge, with little insurance, little regulation and a range of services offered by hundreds of government-run, trust-run and corporate hospitals." It is by no means a purely free-market approach, but it's much more market-oriented than the American model. Among the results: Almost 25,000 doctors graduate from India's medical schools every year. Because there is so much competition, doctors and hos

Texas Rally We Hate the United States

A new essay by Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Adm. Michael Mullen offers a “searing critique of government efforts at ‘strategic communication’ with the Muslim world,” saying that the U.S. needs to focus more on its actions. “Each time we fail to live up to our values or don’t follow up on a promise,” writes Mullen, “we look more and more like the arrogant Americans the enemy claims we are.” - ThinkProgress U.S. Wants 20,000 More Troops to Fight Taliban by Kim Sangupta - The IndepeEvery time I have ever seen someone drive a sharp bargain it has ended up coming back at the person in some negative way. People who get paid more than they are worth, or who receive more benefit than they provide, always run into problems, and have difficulty achieving success. The most successful people in the world are, for the most part, the ones who give more value than they receive. They contribute so much value that people want to do business with them, and to buy their products and
