Secondary becoming primary concern

One day after returning to practice and apparently picking off a couple of passes, Giants safety Kenny Phillips was back on the sidelines and not in pads for today’s practice. And he was joined by cornerback Kevin Dockery, too. That’s not good news for either player as the Giants make plans to contend with the Cowboys’ high-octane offense on Sunday night. Phillips appeared to be ready to play in that game yesterday, but his left knee was wrapped today and he didn’t do much more than stretchResistance bands, therabands, kinetic bands – these versatile stretchy bands come in a variety of shapes, strengths, sizes and are called different names – but regardless of what you know them as, they can be an excellent supplement to strength and flexibility for any sport. Resistance bands are inexpensive, portable, and the number of exercises you can use them for is limited only by your coaching imagination !  Use lighter bands for youWas June 26th, 2009 the day the fortunes of the  New York Islanders changed for the better? The answers to that question is beyond the scope of this preview to answer as it won’t be known until it is time to write next season’s preveiw but many on the Island have begun to sense that change is in the air.  At the same time while they see these positive changes, I think Islander fans realize that this one draft pick isn’t himself going to get them into the playof

DGs The Hot Corner Quandary

DOWNTOWN — For the second time in as many playoff games, St. Louis Cardinals prospect third baseman and St. Louis native David Freese homered to provide the only run Triple-A Memphis needed. In the clincher of the Redbirds first-round playoff series against Albuquerque, Freese hit a opposite field home run that proved the difference in a 1-0 victory. Last night, in Memphis, Freese broke a scoreless tie in the sixth inning of the Pacific Coast League championship series with a solo homer that, agaWhen probed about the pending return of his Heisman-winner quarterback, Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops said he wouldn’t discuss the subject. From Tulsa World.com : During his press luncheon on Tuesday, Stoops was asked about Bradford’s progress coming back from a separated shoulder, and Stoops quickly replied, “I’m not even going to go there,” fearing that discussing Bradford’s rehab schedule would only fuel speculation. Instead, it was Stoops’ comments that fueled speculation on talk ra

Good news on injury front but Tulo Stewart stil out

It’s come to this: Jim Tracy’s daily pre-game sit-down with the media has become a medical report. The news this morning, as the Rockies try to complete their sweep of the Reds this afternoon, is mostly good: * Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki likely won’t play, but he’s hitting off a tee today and taking soft-toss batting practice. He’s much improved. * Third baseman Ian Stewart is definitely out for today’s game. His lower back is still tight and hasn’t progressed much from WednesdaBJ Upton , who is sidelined with a sore ankle, is not ready to call it a season, saying he wants to return in the final weeks . That’s nice, but what caught our attention was Upton speaking to the press about his shoulder and how it was never 100% this season following off-season surgery and how that explains his poor performance this year. believes his difficulties at the plate are tied directly to his return from surgery, which sidelined him into spring training and kJohn Rohde of the Oklahoman writes that Sooners quarterback Sam Bradford should sit out the rest of the season after injuring his throwing shoulder in OU’s loss to BYU last Saturday. By sitting out this year, Bradford would be free to rehab at his own pace with far less risk of re-injury. It would give Bradford a few months to clear his head and thoroughly examine his future plans. A redshirt junior, Bradford could enter the 2010 NFL draft, or return as a senior if he felt he had somet

Points in the Paint

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald :  “Heat president Pat Riley said Tuesday he has not been shaken by Michael Beasley’s missteps this summer and that he expects Beasley will be at the start of training camp Sept. 28 and will play a ‘bigger role’ this season. Meanwhile, Riley said he does not expect Dwyane Wade to sign a contract extension this summer and the issue likely will not be resolved until next July, when Wade can become a free agent. Though Riley was not permitted to acknowledge BeasleySo now Oklahoma tight end Jermaine Gresham is officially lost for the season .  Back when Gresham and Sam Bradford opted to spurn the NFL to return to OU, there were all kinds of glowing columns on the virtues of staying in school. Now, both Gresham and Bradford will spend significant portions of this season going through surgeries and rehab. Obviously, both have potentially lost out on millions of dollars by coming back to play for the Sooners.  And they won’t even get that last season

Will Maine He Be A Met In

This weekend we reported on how well John Maine performed in his rehab start for Port St. Lucie. He pitched four shutout innings while allowing just two hits, one walk, and striking out six. The news was even better when Maine said that he experienced no pain the next day. “It’s a little tight but it’s just getting back to normal,” Maine said when asked how he felt. “But as of now, no pain. I didn’t have any pain Saturday night so this feels pretty good.” Maine has been on the DL since JClip Show aims to be your weekly update for all things Columbus Clippers. Mercifully, the 2009 Clippers’ season is over. There were moments of promise early in the year, but once call-ups and injuries set in as the Tribe faltered in the early season, the Clippers had their core depleted and simply did not haveWith 334 career wins and 4268 career strikeouts, two no-hitters and three championship rings, baseball’s greatest pitcher you’ve never heard of, Jimmy Scott, has become more than just a legend. He has become a voice for MLB players, current and retired.  At 41, Jimmy is fully aware of his own baseball mortality; he knows that though he’s not yet over the hill he can certainly see the top of it. kubaniski - yes! Thank you. The poster children of the uninsured aren't always single mothers working three jobs. I know dozens of loser stories. One case: a guy signed a waiver that he and children were on his wife's policy. But she never held a job for more than a few months. So he left his KIDS uninsured. This was a *very* well-paid guy, too. The money for a refurbished Mustang mysteriously appeared. Ugh!
