Ks and Operation Collarbone Updates

Via We Heart It Today, my chers, I participated in my first 5K.  I participated as a walker, not a runner, but to be honest, I never anticipated myself even thinking of doing one–let alone actually doing it.  It doesn’t matter that I only walked it, because in my mind I’m a champion who ran the distance, did the impossible, jumped in to something new. Wolverine poems and other gifts from the Internet

the gutenberg parenthesis and cultural differences

Today’s Remix Culture class is about the Gutenberg Parenthesis: a cultural realm where it is felt that cultural products should be original, independent, autonomous compositions — the individual achievement and the individual property of those who create them. I first encountered the concept at Tom Pettitt’s plenary keynote at Media in Transition 5 conference in 2005. Here’s a PDF of his talk , or you can watch a video of his actual presentatiI am feeling extremely random today. I am filled with brief thoughts but cannot seem to paste them together into a coherent article. Time keeps passing and I know people want their prompts. Anyone who blogs knows that this can only result in a list post. So without further ado: Six random thoughts about poetry: You should buy at least four new books by current poets each year. It isn’t that much money and it helps support poetry. If you ever write a book you will want other people to buy I noticed today that the number of poems being posted in response to the project has started to slow. We are two-thirds of the way through the thirty days. When they hold marathons, this is where most people who will drop out, do drop out. The runners are tired and the finish line still seems a long way away. It’s time for a pep talk and a reality check. It’s time to get back in the race. Here are a few things to keep in mind as we enter the home stretch. This isn’t a poem-a-day project. The

This week, a teen at our barn was injured, while feeding a corn cob to her horse. Her docile grey Quarab began to choke on the corn cob, so she reached into his mouth to grab it. The horse bit down on the corn cob and his young owner’s hand, nearly severing one of her fingers. A simple horse snack became a quick trip to the emerg

Poems in Days Day One

It’s September again, and time for my yearly project, 30 Poems in 30 Days. I’ve been on a blogging sabbatical for quite some time, and I wasn’t quite sure I would do this again, but I find that the urge is still in me, so I am moving forward. I haven’t advertised this and I don’t plan on pushing it anywhere. I’m doing it for me this year, though I welcome those who want to come along on the journey. I am purposely not looking at my posts from the past two years. I think I would go crazy trying tProvides consumer information on life insurance, car insurance, business, home, and individual or group health insurance.by Dana Guthrie Martin Hawk by sabeth718 Some of you might be familiar with Postal Poetry , a site Dave Bonta and I managed for a number of months from 2008 to 2009. Anyway, we’ve decided to try something similar here: a contest for electronic poetry postcards. How does it work? Simple. You take the image above and add a poem to it. As with Postal Poetry, the text must appear on the image itself. (This

Poems in Days Day Seven

Writing poetry can be a challenge, and writing 30 poems in 30 days is quite a task. There will always be days in which you just don’t feel very creative or inspired. Words that seemed to flow on one day are tangled and frozen on another day. This happens to everyone. Here are a few things I do to get unstuck. Meditate. I have several guided meditations on my iPod. I download them for free from http://www.zenworlds.com/ . I also have my own simple meditations. I usually focus on a single word Poetry Prompt - through Sunday, September 6th, 2009 Welcome to SIMPLY SNICKERS. In general, editors don’t want poems that have been previously published, and some of them consider poems on personal blogs as “published.” The spectrum of preferences and guidelines is broad. btw, just to let you EMPTYHEADED MORONS know- what Obama is proposing is a government health care OPTION. Meaning, people would be able to choose which health care they want. And if it would be as bad as you say it is, noone would choose it.

Republicans don't want people to have that choice. Because they only care about protecting the greedy fucks that are robbing the american people blind with the most expensive health care in the world that is ranked only #37 in the world by the WHO
