Bring It On , the 2000 film which stars Kirsten Dunst , Eliza Dushku , Gabrielle Union and Jesse Bradford as cheerleaders out for global domination, is being made into a Broadway musical which is scheduled to open in 2011 . Last night David and I met up with our friend Ben to attend a performance by Natalie Joy Johnson and Our Lady J at the Upright Cabaret at The Vermont in Los Feliz, CA. Ben directed the show, Natalie sang some songs and Lady J accompanied on piano: It was a marvelously, fabulous night of entertainment. We had a blast!!! I’m not big on cabaret shows but last night was a lot of fun. Tonight, I’m meeting up with my friend TWill "American Idiot" hit like a grenade or just bomb? " Musical theater is dead!" That's the cry pundits have been wailing for the last 20 years. Or perhaps it's been wailed all along and I've only been listening for the last 20 years. Whatever the case, it's being wailed and I have to admit, I just don't see it. Last night, Raphael and I headed back to The Pantages Theater for some lighter fare, this time to see Legally Blonde The Musical . I liked the film, but it's not like I own the DVD or anything, so I was skeptical going into the musical adaptation. Also, it didn't help my opinion any when as I was entering so were Hugh Hefner's blonde twins from The Girls Next Door in short hot pink dresses followed by paparazzi.
