Miliband has pitch in The Independent

South Shields MP looking to “the future” Having read David Miliband’s interview with John Rentoul in The Independent on Sunday you might be excused for thinking that the Foreign Secretary hasn’t gone bananas, but his views illustrate the wider difficulties faced by Labour with Brown at it’s helm. His repeated references to New Labour are coupled with links to “declinism” and unpopular conceptions about the government, Europe, and our attempts to reign in Iran’s nuclear ambitions. He does Well, for a man whose party poll ratings are somewhat in decline Enda Kenny seems remarkable chipper to judge from an interesting interview in the Mail on Sunday today with Jason O’Toole. First prize for outstanding statement of the obvious… ‘I believe deep down, the electorate are just turned off this Government hugely.’ Hmmm… still, I think there’s more than a word of truth in what he says next… If the economy rectified itself in the morning, I think they’re still going to change thTVNZ has a new poll out tonight confirming that Labour are finally clawing back some support from National. Goff’s approval ratings are also up. Like I said the other day, I think this is down to the story of Bill English’s housing allowance breaking back in August. Many political reporters focus on recent events when they’re looking for post hoc explanations for polls; I think you have to go back at least a month. My theory is that most people don’t pay too much attention to politics outsid

Nick Cleggs The Liberal Moment Chapter

Let's look at the second chapter of Nick Clegg's Demos pamphlet. Chapter 2 is titled "The progressive split" and looks at the way the Labour Party supplanted the Liberals after the First World War. There is something wonderfully eccentric in a political leader issuing a pamphlet discussing the finer points of the Liberal Party's performance in the 1923 general election. I certainly don't want to discourLONDON – British Prime Minister Gordon  Brown’s ruling Labour Party appears to have lost “the will to live” and must fight harder if it ... Since the invasion and occupation of Iraq baGuess the author of this quote: We are faced with the alternatives of acting or allowing subdividers and speculators to steal our national assets from us… How much coastline and seafront must be sacrificed forever before we learn that, in issues of profit versus the environment, environment must win? A response to Basil Fernando Sri Lanka is not a Gulag Island

I am proud of my country, Sri Lanka, which has just been able to vanquish a formidable, ferocious and fascistic foe, despite its vast global network and in the face of considerable external pressure. I am proud that my country Sri Lanka has been able to restore its territorial unity and integrity and reasssert its independence and sovereignty. I am proud of the Sri Lankan armed forces which have achieved that which the armies of major powers have been unable to in many parts of the world. I am pWe’ve got your political corruption right here:GORDON BROWN was this weekend plunged into a “cash for seats” row, with the revelation that Labour agreed to give a union baron a safe seat — as the party received a £1m donation.A senior party figure has revealed that Jack Dromey, the husband of Harriet Harman, was to be installed as candidate for a seat Labour has held for 55 of the past 60 years, in an agreement with his trade union. At the same time as the deal was struck, the union gave £1

The Fundamental Paradox Of Modern Liberalism

Neutrality and national sovereignty have deep roots in Sweden, one of the few corners of Europe to have stayed outside the European armed conflicts since the Napeolonic Wars. Officially, joining the European Union and the supranational decision-making within the European Community was a major step for Sweden, but despite the positive referendum, basic Swedish attitudes dAh, this was the week of the Glenn Beck frog scandal – read all about it here : You know the old saying, if you put a frog into boiling water, he’s going to jump right out, because he’s scalding hot, but if you place the frog in lukewarm water and gradually raise the temperature, it won’t realize what’s happening and die? Okay. Toss live frog in pot of boiling water, track in, and solemnly intone your point: Barack Obama has galvanized the country, because oGordon Brown, and the Labour Party have some big problems coming their way in the coming elections. Many within Labour have already given up on the next election and some are even calling for Brown to resign for the sake of the Party. Both the Prime Minister and his Party are sinking further in popularity, but don’t seem to be doing much about it. Brown has tried to rally support through international efforts such as the G20 meetings, but this has been greatly frustrated with the latest meet

Paul Routledge Gordon to survive or Ill eat the Maastricht Treaty

Gordon Brown must be shaking in his boots at the prospect of Huddersfield MP Barry Sheerman ousting Tony Lloyd from the chairmanship of the Parliamentary Labour Party. The notion is being touted up ’ere as a move that “could put the Prime Minister’s job in peril”. Now, I yield to practically everyone in my admiration of the pro-foxhunting, Spectator-award winning chairman of the schools select sommittee, a former churchwarden of St Margaret’s, Westminster. Indeed, I think we must all yield tConsidering primary-style elections to select Labour candidates is just the latest episode in the recent sordid history of unthinking emulation of the United States. The American political system is bogged in complete unwillingness to catch up with the rest of the world in healthcare and it is worth remembering why Congress is gridlocked – or rather lobby-locked.  Primary elections are the primary cause of that. The British emulation of US deregulation that brought about the financial crisis w

sil80owner is a retard, m.j. was the king of all music, he had the top selling album of all time and is the only singer in history to have his first 4 song entries to hit number 1 in the top 40 countdown. Sil i guess can't fathom that M.j. had the greatest world wide fan base. And if we all died then there wouldn't be many people left. Regardless on peoples stands about M.J.s personal life everyone has to give him props for his album thriller
