I was interviewed recently for a Live Mint story on Indian non-profits using social media. My view is that there aren’t any short cuts to using social media effectively, for either corporates or non-profits. Some causes spread virally, like the Pink Chaddi Campaign , but most don’t. What non-profits need is a more rigorous approach to social technologies, rooted in a commitment to long-term communities and constituent relationship management programs, and a willingness to let the peop

GOP consultant John Lewis commented today on our post about Tom Daly’s assistant, Renee Ramirez, running for Clerk Recorder. Lewis wanted to let us all know that he is not supporting Ramirez. Daschle says health-care reform will not be pain free. Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them. That means the elderly will bear the brunt.
Ain't that a kick in the teeth? Pay your taxes all your life, get old, and then get passed over for treatment in favor of some young non-contributor. Doesn't sound fair, does it? Guess the young get screwed on social security so it all evens out. See how fair socialism is, wow!

And for a country like the Netherlands, it's far more likely to work. But the USA has a much bigger population and 50 states, each of which would have different laws. I'd be OK with a system that's OK for everyone. But when a country as large as the US tries to socialize health care, what happens is crappy health care for most, decent (but 10 times as expensive) health care for a very very small minority.
